ALISON RIORDAN (1962 – )
Ruth Prowse Art College, 1962
Minimalism is the core aspect of Alison’s artworks. As a self-taught artist, her influences range from American Impressionism to contemporary Eastern art. Alison intends her work to convey the meaning behind the vision, the concrete in the abstract. Sometimes only the suggestion of the subject is portrayed, to allow the picture to take place in the viewer’s mind. She draws inspiration from thoughts, colours and moments in time. There is no specific theme in Alison’s work – although ethereal figures appear in many of them.
She has participated in various group exhibitions and her work has sold internationally to collector’s and interior designers. Her group exhibitions include Kirstenbosch Sanlam Hall, Government Avenue (Gardens), Front Room art Pretoria, Bellini’s Gallery, Hermanus, Missions House Gallery, Onrus and RED the Gallery.
