Fulani began his artistic journey with no formal artistic training. But through years of persistent hard work, his untrained, spontaneous and uninhibited style has developed into an individualistic sophistication. Fulani depicts everyday scenes in urban South Africa. His work reveals a documentary approach in which he captures and records specific moments – not unlike the impressionists. Some of these images are joyous and happy; while others depict the sinister underbelly of South African life that is hidden from middle-class locals and tourists.
